10 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms

Varicose Veins:  You might notice visible veins crisscrossing your breasts, abdominal area, and legs. Varicose veins are swelling and enlarged veins usually in the lower legs and feet.  Varicose veins are common during pregnancy. Increased blood volume during pregnancy causes veins to swell and enlarge. Pressure exerted by the uterus on the large veins behind it causes the blood to slow in its return to the heart. These things cause varicose veins.

Indigestion:  Pressure of the expanding uterus and pregnancy hormones can cause indigestion. Pregnancy hormones relax the muscles of the digestive tract leading to slow movement of the food. This causes indigestion and feeling bloated.

Heartburn:  Your may experience heartburn due to pregnancy hormones relaxing the valve that separates the esophagus from the stomach. This causes food and acids to come back up from the stomach to the esophagus. The food and acid causes the burning feeling of heartburn.

Mild Abdominal Pain:  You may feel some pain in your abdomen as it stretches to accommodate your growing baby. Mild lower abdominal pain for a short period of time is normal. Call your doctor right away if you have constant, severe lower abdominal pain.

Breast Changes:  Your breasts may become bigger and heavier. This happens due to hormonal changes, which surge as your breasts start preparing for breastfeeding.

Morning Sickness:  Pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting continues to bother in this week. Hormone changes in the first trimester can cause morning sickness (nausea and vomiting). Although it is called as “morning sickness”, it can occur at any time of day. Morning sickness usually goes away by the second trimester. This may continue for another two weeks and subside in the second trimester.

Increased Vaginal Discharge:  May continue to experience increased vaginal discharge during this week. It is normal and is not a cause to worry. Call your doctor if it is heavy, colored, tinged with blood, has a foul odor, or causes discomfort.

Mood Swings:  Sudden changes in mood and fast changing emotions arecaused by fluctuating pregnancy hormones and other symptoms of nausea and fatigue. It is normal at this point in the pregnancy.

Fatigue:  You may continue to be bothered by fatigue and tiredness during this week. This happens as your body works extra hard to support the growing baby. Many pregnant women experience increased fatigue and feel exhausted in the first trimester. This happens despite having a good night’s sleep. This is normal and is not a cause of worry at all. This is your body’s way of telling you that you need more rest. Your fatigue and tiredness will decrease in the second trimester.
